WHY ARE OUR KITTENS PRICED THIS WAY?
If you’re here, it likely means you’ve fallen in love—perhaps with a photo, a tiny face, or the idea of welcoming one of our kittens into your home. And somewhere in that excitement, a practical question naturally follows: Why this price?
It’s a fair question. And because you are trusting us with something precious, you deserve a thoughtful and heartfelt answer.
At Ethereal Persians,
Our Pricing is Guided by 3 Core Factors
While the framework is simple, the meaning behind it is layered with intention and sacrifice.
1. Base Price — The Foundation of Their Beginning
Our base price reflects the time, expertise, financial investment, and daily commitment required to responsibly raise a Persian kitten in an ethical home-based cattery.
Our base price is not simply a number—it is the reflection of time poured in, wisdom earned through experience, resources carefully reinvested, and the steady, everyday devotion required to raise a Persian kitten with integrity in a home built around them.
Yes, it’s a mouthful. And still, it barely captures what happens behind the scenes.
This is where the heart of the investment lives. In the early mornings and late nights. In the watchful waiting. In the constant cleaning, monitoring, nurturing, and adjusting. In the years spent refining lines, learning, improving. In the decision to structure our entire lifestyle around tiny, breathing lives.
When you bring home one of our kittens, you are not just bringing home twelve weeks of life. You are bringing home years of preparation, sleepless nights, financial investment, and constant care.
Ethical breeding didn’t simply change our routine—it redefined how we live, move, plan, and love each day.
Intact males and females spray. Females cycle. Personalities clash. Hierarchies form. There are days filled with soft purring and quiet contentment—and there are days when we must carefully manage tension, soothe conflicts, and restore peace in our fluffy kingdom.
We choose to love them through all of it.
Our home is not simply a house. It is a nursery. A maternity ward. At times, a recovery room. We clean more than most families ever need to. We use professional-grade disinfecting equipment. We monitor every appetite, every behavior shift, every tiny developmental milestone. We structure introductions thoughtfully to maintain harmony.
Peace here does not happen by accident—it is created, protected, and maintained.
This is not a 9–5 job. It is 24/7. There are no true vacations. We cannot “clock out.” Even when we step away, our hearts stay here with them.
If responsible breeding is not financially sustainable, it cannot remain ethical. For that reason, our base price is not negotiable.
The $3,000 base price reflects the minimum cost required to operate ethically and sustainably. It includes:
2. Genetics & Development — When Nature Writes the Story
We plan each pairing with intention. We study pedigrees. We weigh strengths and weaknesses. We hope for excellence.
But once life begins, genetics takes its own course.
Breeding is part science, part humility. It is not a controlled equation—it is living and unpredictable.
For simplicity, our kittens technically begin at $4,500, and adjustments are made if structural or aesthetic imperfections appear during development. These may include:
- Offset nose
- Stenotic nares
- Wry bite
- Malocclusion
- Excessive tearing
For each notable defect, we typically reduce the price by $500.
Most of these traits are cosmetic and may never impact health. Mild bite misalignments often correct themselves. Crooked teeth frequently straighten. Nearly all Persians tear to some degree; the question is whether it is manageable or excessive.
If tearing becomes concerning, we disclose it.
If a bite does not self-correct, we prepare you for possible future veterinary recommendations.
If stenotic nares are present, we proceed cautiously and may significantly reduce pricing or place at cost.
When something isn’t textbook perfect, our responsibility is not to minimize it or hope you won’t notice. It is to be honest with you and to reflect that difference fairly in the price.
Many families are not trained to recognize subtle structural nuances at first glance—but time often reveals what inexperience may miss. We would rather have a transparent conversation today than have you feel surprised tomorrow.
We believe trust is built in those moments.
By identifying potential concerns early, we ensure you choose your kitten with confidence, clarity, and peace of mind.
Transparency is not optional for us—it is foundational.
3. Market Demand — Timing, Trends, and Human Nature
Market demand is the most practical — and often the most misunderstood — part of kitten pricing.
Unlike genetics or operating costs, market demand has little to do with the quality of a kitten and everything to do with timing, trends, and buyer behavior.
Throughout the year, interest naturally rises and falls. The holiday season often brings an emotional surge — families are home more, children are off school, and the idea of welcoming a kitten at Christmas feels magical. During these periods, inquiries increase and placements happen quickly.
In contrast, spring and summer can slow down. Families travel. Schedules shift. Vacations take priority. Even exceptional kittens may remain available longer — not because they lack quality, but because attention is divided elsewhere.
Age also plays a role. Many buyers are drawn to the idea of the “tiny baby” stage and may hesitate once a kitten passes 12–14 weeks. Yet what often goes unrecognized is that slightly older kittens are frequently more developed, more predictable in structure, and often calmer and better socialized. Those willing to look beyond the calendar sometimes discover extraordinary value.
Color trends influence demand as well. Certain coat colors rise in popularity through social media exposure or shifting aesthetic preferences. Rare colors — such as calicos or chinchillas — are more difficult to produce and naturally command more attention. Rarity, in any market, increases desirability.
Market demand does not change our standards. It does not change the care invested in each kitten. What it changes is price.
When a kitten remains available past 12 weeks, we gradually adjust pricing — typically in $500 increments every 3 to 4 weeks. This is not a reflection of diminished worth. It is simply an acknowledgment of market rhythm. The kitten has not lost quality; the window of peak demand has shifted.
Understanding market demand allows families to make strategic decisions. Some prefer to secure a kitten early during high-demand periods. Others patiently wait and may be rewarded with exceptional quality at a more favorable price.
In the end, market demand reflects human behavior — not feline value. Every kitten is raised with the same investment of care, intention, and love. Timing may influence price, but it never influences the standard behind the kitten.
Our prices are not negotiable, and we do not price match other catteries.
Not because we are inflexible—but because our standards are consistent.
Kittens are not commodities and placement is not purely transactional. We reserve the right to decline a placement if we feel it is not the right fit, because protecting their future will always matter more than completing a sale.
When you choose one of our kittens, you are not simply purchasing a pet. You are stepping into a story that began long before you saw that first photo. You are investing in ethical stewardship, transparency, and a breeder who will answer your questions honestly—even when the answer is complex.
Our hope in sharing this is not simply to justify a number, but to offer insight into the depth of responsibility behind it. Ethical breeding requires emotional resilience, financial discipline, constant vigilance, and unwavering love.
We are deeply grateful for your trust. And we are honored to share our world—and our kittens—with you.
